Heading for Asia 2008 Wednesday, January 2: Fly to San Francisco The flight from Manchester, NY to San Francisco went via Philadelphia– a bit of a longer route thanks to frequent flyer miles. Thursday, January 3:Fly to Hong Kong - Bangkok The just-after-midnight was the start of a long 15 hour flight.The airline, chosen as the lowest cost airline from SFO to Hong Kong was on Cathy Pacific – a Hong Kong based airline that flew a 747-400 packed full – I was one of a handful on non-Asians. I lost a day going over the International Date Line. Friday, January 4: Arrival in Hong Kong then on to Bangkok Arrival in Hong Kong’s new airport was a real pleasure – bright, modern and filled with high-end shops. A free Internet service gave me a chance to update Pat on my arrival. Three hours after getting to Hong Kong, it was off to Bangkok.
